HOLY HOLLYWOOD HISTORY BATMAN 66! V.I.P. GALA
Last night Hollywood was transformed into Gotham City as The Hollywood Museum unveiled the Batman 66 Exhibition at the Holy Hollywood History Batman 66 VIP Gala. What started out as a tribute to the late Adam West, then quickly snowballed into a display of Batcave proportions and is now ready for viewing. Just 2 days before the 52nd anniversary of the debut of our favorite show, Batman, this mind blowing collection is presented for Hollywood stars and VIP. The evening starts with the Batmobile almost running over my foot.
Burt Ward, his lovely wife Tracy, and the always beautiful Lee Merriweather were present to take pictures and share some memories. A cavalcade of stars paraded down the red carpet, encounter to the massive Batman 66 collection housed in the upper portion of the Museum.
The freight elevator is decked out with large screen TV's showing clips from the show, while the Nelson Riddle penned theme song blasts. There was just enough time to aboot drink, from the bar set up inside the lift. Once the doors open it is all Batman, baby.
Original screen used costumes and Props are displayed in a Batcave setting featuring a Batman Computer, a Bat Cycle, and a Batmobile! How did they even get that beautiful beast up there? Special Curator Wally Wingert joined forces with exhibit organizer Roger Neal to pull together a villains lair full of world renown Batman collectors, including Scott Sebring, Tom Woodruff, Nate Truman, Mark Hardeman, Greg Maraio, Alex Zsolt, and so many more! These are just the ones I met.
With my head spinning from all the Batman 66 overload, my eyes landed on this delicate flower. Amidst all the chaos of the Exhibit showcase, the beautiful Lee Merriweather had found a seat in the corner, where she shared a few moments with me. She shared with me that she had never thought she would see anything like this, but that it is well deserved. Everyone involved- Actors, writers, designers and cameramen- deserves this she told me.
Also in attendance was the lovely Barbra Rush who played guest villainess Nora Clavicle, series pilot director Robert Butler, lead singer of Johnny and the Greenmen Johnny Green, 3rd season stuntman Tony Santoro all chatted and relieved memories brought to life by this magnificent display. Stay tuned Citizens, there is lots more to come. I have interviews with the collectors and contributors and Bat fans sharing their thoughts and memories at this historic Bat-event!
The massive HOLY HOLLYWOOD HISTORY BATMAN 66! Opens tomorrow, January 12th, and runs thru April. Ticket info can be found at the Hollywood Museum website here (link)
