With so much news about to come out of New York right now, from NYCC2019, I thought I could share a tale from SDCC 2019. Last July I had the enviable job of covering the event for the fine folks over at Bleeding CooI. A lot of experienced Con attendees will tell you that Wednesday, preview night, is the best night to go. Not too crowded, no exclusives are sold out yet, and you can get some face time with artists and writers before it get too crazy. It was on this Wednesday, as I was being run ragged on the mean, unforgiving streets of the San Diego Comic Con Exhibition Floor, when I stumble into my newest friend the Marketing Manager for The Prop Store, Matt Truex. Matt immediately takes pity on my battered and beaten body and invites me in for a tour of an exclusive exhibition at Comic-Con.
One of the leading global providers of film and TV memorabilia, Prop Store's Comic Con Booth featured props and costumes for two upcoming auctions: the Marvel Television Live Auction and the Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, in London.
Matt generously shows me some pieces from their first-of-its-kind auction of original props, costumes, and more from Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Luke Cage and Marvel’s Iron Fist- sourced directly from Marvel! Enjoy this up-close look at Matt Murdock’s Daredevil costume, Misty Knight’s bionic arm, Colleen Wing’s heirloom katakana and many more!
To celebrate the Marvel Television Live Auction that will be held in LA this August, Prop Store will be giving away Marvel-themed buttons throughout the weekend, with a different button design being released every day. Check back daily to collect a full set of five. You can also sign up at the booth for Marvel Auction updates and a chance to win an original Luke Cage production hoodie from Marvel’s Luke Cage.
In addition to the Marvel Television Live Auction, items from Prop Store's Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction were on display at Booth #3845. The collection, went up for auction, this past weekend, auction in London on September 30 & October 1 2019 , Items from the Back to the Future Trilogy, Batman, Conan the Barbarian, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, James Bond, Jaws, Star Trek, and Star Wars. Highlights include an original Ewok puppet (Star Wars: Return of the Jedi), Adam West and Burt Ward autographed batarang (Batman TV Series, 1966), a hero ghost trap (Ghostbusters), John Hammond’s original costume (Jurassic Park) and Jack Torrence’s hero axe (The Shining) all went under the hammer.
You can enjoy the video I took of Matt showing me all the great things that The Prop Store had to show back in July. Keep and eye out for my favorite item, the Batarang signed by Burt Ward! Magic video machine, take us away.
