FAMILY REUNION SEASON 2 FIRST LOOKS
A second season of the NAACP Image Award winning family comedy Family Reunion, starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Loretta Devine, is coming to Netflix. The new episodes follow the McKellans as they settle into their new lives in the South and even more hilarious antics ensue as they learn to live together under M'Dear's roof and the family bonding gets real.
We’re back, and once again, we’ve managed to top ourselves! Welcome to Part 4 of Family Reunion. I remain immensely proud of this series that presents an authentic multigenerational African American family who laugh hard and love harder. It’s written by an all-Black writing staff, who’ve carefully woven their diverse experiences into a cultural quilt of comedy, current events, and an understanding of what it means to be Black in America today, as well as in the past.
One of the things I love most about Family Reunion is that even as a family sit-com, where we appeal to younger audiences, we strive to deliver an entertaining and thought-provoking show for adults as well. We walk the line between gently introducing difficult subjects to children and going deep enough to satisfy more mature viewers.
In Part 4 (the second half of season two), the McKellans will acknowledge a closeted family member, recognize that no person – no matter how dynamic – can do it all, and continue to grapple with financial security. As always, the younger characters learn from the lived experiences of their elders, and we even tackle the painful legacy of the N-word, with M’dear determining that, “No word – even that word – is more powerful than I am.”
Capitalizing on the multi-talented cast, led by Loretta Devine and Tia Mowry, there are more musical episodes, including a Christmas homage to The Wiz, in which the impatient to grow up Jade learns to appreciate the magic of childhood.
I invite you to reunite with our family, and enjoy some real southern hospitality and genuine Black joy. Family Reunion will make you feel good, money back guaranteed!
